With a scimitar blade that is almost 5 inches at it's widest point but still well balanced using either one or two hands due to its unique pommel design. The high quality functional Ritter Steel blade is hand forged over hot coals, its beautiful wood handle is separated by brass spacers, the guard and pommel are hand cast out of solid brass. This great longsword has been duplicated to the detail of an actual large bastard sword held in private collection. It"s complex cross design is similar to one displayed in a museum in Zurich dated to the time between 1480-1510. These early weapons were originally carried by the strong and fearless Swiss and Germans, although bastard swords soon became popular in other regions such as the British Isles and Europe. The blade is 2" wide and 42" long. Overall length 56". No sheath. |

It long has been the belief that the "Soul" of a warrior lived within his sword and to be a Samurai warrior was to uphold the highest spiritual and physical disciplines than one can on a mortal plain, his sword brought together in steel by the ancient and highly skilled "mieko" (swordsmiths). These religious mieko wore costumes resembling the garb of Shinto priests and undertook purification rituals before forging to clarify mind and body in their strive for perfection in the creation of a blade.
