Arming Doublet

Arming Doublet is a padded garment that was worn underneath the armor to protect the wearer from chafing and stains and to serve as a cushion against heavy blows that landed on armor. The garment was usually made of heavy leather or other material. When chainmail was worn to protect the joints the chainmail was fastened to the arming doublet.
