"The Commander" (1543-1616) Samurai Tokugawa Ieyasu - Samurai figure. Brave commander who led his troops through 16th century Japan's decades of battle. Tokugawa is also the name of the period in Japan defined by time of prosperity and peace during which each daimio was required to spend some time in a year at the Shogun's court. During this period it was a fashion to wear armor that featured obsolete accents. Many of the armor were exceedingly elaborate.
