Description & Specs
6 FT.. 3" TALL! ... that's an incredible 75" and so "Authentic" this German medieval sword rivals the ones found in museums. It is a must for the serious weapons connoisseur, and will become the treasured centerpiece in their collection. Remember, this handmade Flamberge sword is not for the faint of heart...as Great Landsknecht Swords were wielded by only the strongest and most fearless chosen front line Swiss and German soldiers of the Middle Ages. Its main purpose was to down charging horsemen and cut off oncoming pike heads. Wrought iron and steel has been worked to duplicate the design of an original piece now in private collection.

Our RitterSteel® Authentics™ Flamberge sword has a fierce functional flamberge "wavy" handmade high carbon steel blade over 4-1/2 ft. long and forged over hot coals. It has an especially appealing design with a hand worked circular guard with joined rings at front and back along with swirled wrought iron side guards. A true masterpiece! Item #2630

Having owned this sword since 2004, it is a fantastic weapon to train with, for those willing to take it seriously. The few times I've practiced in more public areas than I'd liked, it drew praise and appreciation, at least from those not scared of it. It will help develop proper style and attitude if the practitioner gives the time and effort, and this is coming from a 5' 8" owner. To be more specific, a circular remise and tandem movement help maintain energy, balanced footwork promotes easier effort, and posture/poise opens strike availability. Push and draw cuts help make this sword even more resilient, without even adding in half-sword training. The description is no lie: this is meant for hearty, strong, and most importantly, disciplined enthusiasts. It has changed from a personal challenge to a legacy of what persistence and dedication can result in.

Too long to be weildable for anyone shorter than 6’6” tall. Good quality steel in the blade, but not hand forged. Cut from stock to shape and then pretty poorly ground. The guard is much too heavy and clunky, and the welds in it are numerous and of poor quality. Far too heavy to be an effective sword. Handle constructed in three pieces including a center iron “bead” which needlessly adds over a pound to the overall weight. Pommel is bizarrely pierces and pinned to the tang, which is rather odd for a piece claiming to be so accurate, and “combat ready” hilt and pommel seem designed to break. Overall design needs to be reworked by a genuine sword smith while consulting with swordsmen experienced in using 2 handers. I would rate this ridiculously oversized boat anchor with only one star, but it earns the second star for good steel in the blade, and what seems so far to be a good heat treat and temper.

A sword fit for a god. Cleanly impales several foes in battle. Great for slaying orcs and larger beasts

A wonderful sword I have used to train with for almost 14 years come Christmas 2017. Highly recommended for strength training and learning to use your body with proper footing. Thank you KnightsEdge for having such a weapon available!
