Trident

A trident is a three-pronged spear. Tridents are used for spear fishing and in the past they were used as a military weapon. Used as a weapon trident was able reach an enemy from a distance and also to trap enemy’s weapon between the prongs and thus disarm the enemy. Tridents were often used in ancient Rome by a gladiator called retiarius or “net fighter”. They were often equipped with a trident and a net and they were pitted against a gladiator called secutor.
